ABSTRACT
Philonotis thwaitesii Mitt. is reported for the first time from Jharkhand. It was
previously recorded in Gujarat, Sikkim, Odisha, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil
Nadu, and West Bengal. An illustrated description along with ultrastructural details
of the peristome teeth and spores, is provided to facilitate easy identification.
